We drove from Frederick to Shady Grove, took the Metro to Cleveland Park, and then walked from there to the Zoo.
Cleveland Park had everything: Starbucks, organic grocery, gourmet grocery, sushi, Medetereanian, Irish, coffee shop, dry cleaner (also organic), etc. A quick jaunt over and we were at the Zoo.
Many cool animals.

Thomas did a little "train surfin" on the way back - no hands style.
Here is Thomas on top of the Praire Dog tunnel play thingy. The kids preferred climbing around on top of it rather than climbing through the tunnels.
